Interactive Drift Diffusion Model Demo
This interactive Shiny application allows you to explore the Drift
Diffusion Model (DDM) by adjusting its parameters and visualizing the
effects in real-time.
Features
- Adjust core DDM parameters (drift rate, threshold separation,
starting point, etc.)
- Modify across-trial parameter variability (sv, sz, st0)
- Visualize evidence accumulation paths
- Explore reaction time distributions
- See parameter effects instantly
Using the App
The app interface is divided into several sections:
- Parameter Controls - Use the sliders to adjust DDM
parameters
- Simulation Display - View evidence accumulation
paths and RT distributions
- Parameter Distribution - See the distribution of
trial-specific parameters when using variability
Experiment with different parameter combinations to develop an
intuitive understanding of how each parameter affects decision outcomes
and reaction times.
Relation to Tutorial Vignettes
This interactive app complements the conceptual explanations provided
in the tutorial vignettes:
- Introduction to Random Walks - Foundation for
understanding evidence accumulation
- Simulating the DDM - Basic principles implemented
in the app
- Parameter Variability - Explore how variability
affects outcomes
- Interpreting Parameters - See the real-time effects
of parameter changes
The app serves as a hands-on learning tool that brings the
theoretical concepts to life through direct interaction and
visualization.
